Dear DUI Education Providers,

Recent events in our state have made it necessary to make temporary changes to the way DUI Education is delivered. With the support of the Department of Human Services (DHS) and Prevention Research Institute (PRI), we will be temporarily suspending the in person classroom requirement until June 30, 2021. This means you are allowed to use distance teaching for PRIME For Life classes, the other requirements of the Administrative Rule remain in effect. Here is a link to Administrative Rule R523-11

This temporary change means that if you choose to adopt distance education- you must have both visual and audio connections- you will need to plan your classes in a different way. You will still be expected to do group activities and process through the workbook and the video. You will need to make sure participants have the workbook prior to class, etc. In addition, PRI has produced a document about adapting PRIME For Life teaching, it’s available on your dashboard and was emailed to Instructors today. Here is the link to the Dashboard, you log in on the upper right side of the page: https://www.primeforlife.org/

Applications you may use include but aren’t limited to: Zoom, Skype, and Go To Meetings, etc. PRI has also offered technical support so please reach out to them as appropriate.

Please note that this is not an online course that a Provider would contact PRI to purchase or that an individual would link to and take in isolation a little at a time. The course remains the same but would be taught screen to screen with a live, certified teacher to engage participants and answer questions.

Please be sure that your agency is following all of the DHS COVID-19 Guidance for your site location and license type. The DHS Office of Licensing sends this information to all licensees and it is updated frequently. Here is the link

Thank you and stay safe.
